slig: A Slig from the Oddworld game, the moon behind it, a landmine in front of it (Default)
Figured I'd bung my SC4 files up here in case they're useful, you never know. You'll need Mootilda's HoodReplace to use them in the original hoods, also the LotAdjuster for use in Strangetown. Back up your hoods first, etc.

Pleasantview

Replacing Pleasantview is pretty easy.

Open the game, start a new neighbourhood, pick the "MoarPleasant" SC4 file from the list, lush terrain.
Load up the hood, check it, exit the game.
Open up Mootilda's HoodReplace program. In the "copy from" section you want the hood you just made. In the "copy to" section choose your original Pleasantview. I'd suggest these settings to keep all the hood deco/trees/bridge/lush terrain (there is a bridge on the SC4 file but if you replace it you'll lose the neighbourhood traffic on the opposite side of the bridge).

Then hit "Copy" and the program will tell you when it's done. Open the game, check your original Pleasantview to see if it's worked alright. There'll be the odd tree/stop sign/hood deco sitting in the road but otherwise, everything should be ready to go. You can delete that hood you created from the SC4 file if you don't want it now.

Strangetown

Strangetown is more time-consuming. The SC4 file itself is good but if you've got the original Maxis lots down on the hood you're replacing it'll end up a bit carved up. Flatten the edges of some of the lots with the LotAdjuster before you replace - namely the Smith, Beaker, Curious, 73, 88 and 94 lots, otherwise you won't be able to put them together. Not much I can do about that, the lots weren't built on a flat-edged lot. You'll have to fiddle with the lot edges/fences a bit after you flatten some of them.

Open the game, start a new neighbourhood, pick the "MoarStrange" SC4 file from the list, desert terrain.
Load up the hood, check it, exit the game.
Open up Mootilda's HoodReplace program. In the "copy from" section you want the hood you just made. In the "copy to" section choose your original Strangetown. Use the same settings as before if you want to keep the original Strangetown terrain/deco etc.

Hit "Copy" and the program will tell you when it's done. Open the game, check your original Strangetown to see if it's worked alright. Some of the lots/hood deco/trees will be sitting on the new roads, you'll have to spend some time moving those. You can relevel some of the terrain as you go along using the cheat "modifyneighborhoodterrain on", selecting some of the terrain with your mouse so it turns green and using the \ key for level, [ for up, ] for down. Also, you'll need a camera mod to get to the square roads up at the corner but it's a good spot for a top secret military base/science lab/asylum etc. If you didn't flatten the lot edges you won't be able to fit the Grunt/Smith/empty 73/empty 57 on the same section of road below the Curious house. There's a gap next to Olive's place before the road to allow for a graveyard.

Bridge

The road on the bridge in Pleasantview doesn't match the roads in my game (CuriousB's) so I replaced it. It'll replace the road on the stone bridge and the Pleasantview bridge (you can see it in the bigger pic of Pleasantview above). The colour doesn't match perfectly when you zoom in really close. Think this is a consequence of the Radiance mod, it might look ok if you don't have that. It won't alter the stone or the bridge at all, just the road part.
